11 Additional Connecticut Flu Deaths

(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The number of people who've died from the flu in Connecticut this season now stands at 55.  

This, according to the state Department of Public Health, which reports 11 additional deaths in its report for the week ending March 16.

DPH also reports flu activity in the state remains widespread.

So far a total of 2,480 patients have been hospitalized with flu since the season began last August.

Thirty-five of the deaths were of adults 65 years of age or older, according to DPH.

In addition, 15 were aged 50 to 64.  

Four pepole aged 25 to 49 had succumbed and one child between five and 17 had died.
