MONTVILLE, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut community mourned the lives of a mother and her three children Friday after her husband was charged with their murder.

Megan, Aleksander, Tyler and Zoe Todt were remembered by about 200 family and friends who gathered at St. John the Evangelist Church in Montville for their funeral, the Connecticut Post reported.

“Now is the time also to share especially good memories, of especially good lives,” the Rev. Robert Buongiorno said in his sermon.

Anthony Todt, 44, of Colchester, had confessed earlier this month to killing his wife and their children in a rental home in Celebration, Florida, sometime in late December. He was charged with four counts of murder and pleaded not guilty Thursday.

He also faced an animal cruelty charge in the killing of the family dog.

The bodies of the Todts were found when federal agents and deputies went to the Florida house to serve an arrest warrant. Todt, who worked as a physical therapist, was already being investigated by the FBI and agents with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for health care fraud, according to court documents unsealed two weeks ago in Connecticut federal court.

Authorities say he needed the money to pay off personal loans. Online records in New York state court showed Todt and his Colchester, Connecticut-based clinics were facing debts to creditors.
