NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ More than 3,000 runners are expected in New Haven for the annual Run for Refugees.

The annual race benefits the nonprofit Integrated Refugees and Immigrant Services, an organization that helps resettle refugees in Connecticut.   Sunday's race comes on the second anniversary of President Donald Trump's ban on refugees from seven majority-Muslim countries.

Organizers say the race, in addition to being a fundraiser, is a way for people to show that Connecticut welcomes refugees and cares about their plight.   Some of the refugees helped by IRIS have volunteered to help out at the race, including cooking dishes from their native countries to help feed the runners.
