NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) _ A Connecticut high school is mourning the death of an 18-year-old graduate killed when his scooter was struck by a car in New Haven.

Common Ground High School opened Sunday afternoon and will do so again Monday for students, staff and family of Christopher Franco. He was killed and a 15-year-old boy was badly injured Friday when a car struck their scooter at around 10:30 p.m. on a bridge.  Franco was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police on Sunday said the 15-year-old victim, who they haven't named, remains in critical condition.  They also identified the car driver as Judy Gomez, 55, of East Haven.

She's been charged with felony evading responsibility for a crash resulting in death or serious injury. Gomez is in custody and will be arraigned Monday.
