FAIRFIELD, Conn. (WTIC and AP) - Police in Fairfield are investigating what they're calling a domestic violence homicide.

Officers responded to a home on Catamount Road at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday and found a woman dead.

Police say James Taylor, 75, of Fairfield burst into the home with a gun and fired at the victim. A struggle ensued between Taylor and the victim's son, said police.

Taylor is under arrest on charges of murder, attempted murder, home invasion, first-degree burglary, third-degree assault, and illegal discharge of a firearm. He was held on $1 million bond pending arraignment Monday in Bridgeport Superior Court.

The name of the victim was not released as of Monday morning.

Police closed a section of Catamount Road, the street on which the home is located.
