WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. will disclose the name of a Saudi citizen sought by lawyers for victims of the Sept. 11 attacks who want to link the kingdom to the terrorist plot.

The Justice Department said in a court filing Thursday that it will disclose the name to lawyers for survivors and victims' relatives. It will also be provided to lawyers for the Saudi government.

The lawyers believe the person was a Saudi official who assigned two men in California to assist two of the hijackers.

The individual's name was redacted in a 2012 FBI report on the case.

The Justice Department says the "FBI has long been committed to providing the families of the victims" with transparency about its investigation.
