WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn (WTIC) - Two Connecticut National Guard choppers left Windsor Locks today, to be ready to respond to Florence as she moves into the Carolinas.

Major Mike Peterson says the Black Hawk and Chinook helicopters can carry supplies, personnel, and perform rescue missions. "We sent two aircraft with 10 personnel total down to Tennessee to stage prior to Hurricane Florence making landfall, so they can better be prepared to provide a rapid response as needed once the storm has passed."

Most of the soldiers on the helicopters are pilots and crew.
