BERLIN, Conn. (WTIC) - Earlier today, Eversource announced its plans to spend $83 million this year for tree work along 4,000 miles of electric lines in Connecticut.

The project involves trimming trees and removing hazardous trees, to prevent power outages in extreme weather caused by falling trees and tree limbs.

The company says some of the most extensive work will be done in Greenwich. Ninety-two miles of tree trimming will also be done in Enfield.

Eversource serves about 1.2 million electric customers in 149 Connecticut cities and towns.
