(New Haven, Conn./WTIC News) - An overnight armed robbery at a college on the campus of Yale University in New Haven is under investigation.

Yale Police Chief Ron Higgins says it happened in the wee hours this morning.

A little after 1:30, two undergraduate students encountered a man inside a room at Timothy Dwight College.

After the suspect was confronted, the chief says the suspect displayed a handgun.

He then stole a computer and fled the scene.

There were no injuries.

Yale police are investigating and say they will increase patrols in the area.

University spokesman Tom Conroy says while such incidents within residential colleges are rare, it does prove the university is not immune to crime.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Yale Police.
