Gov. Dan Malloy To Appeal FEMA Decision To Deny Individual Aid To Tornado Damage Victims

August 30, 2018 - 4:37 pm

(HARTFORD, Conn./WTIC) - Governor Dannel Malloy says he will appeal a decision by FEMA to deny individual assistance to those impacted by the tornado outbreak this spring.

The storms that ripped through Fairfield and New Haven Counties on May 15 caused millions of dollars in homeowner damage.

However, FEMA ruled the damage was not severe enough to meet the criteria for individual assistance.

Malloy says he will appeal on behalf of three Litchfield County towns, as well: Bridgewater, Roxbury, and New Milford.

FEMA did approve public assistance for New Haven and Fairfield Counties earlier this month.
