HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC) - Follwing two mass shootings in less than 24 hours over the weekend, a rally was held today at the state capitol.

An estimated 250 people turned out at the Connecticut capitol Monday morning, calling for tougher gun laws in Washington.

The rally followed two mass shooting incidents that took place in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio over the weekend. Both shootings combined left over 30 people dead and about 50 more injured.

Senator Richard Blumenthal and other members of Connecticut's Congressional delegation called on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to call the chamber back into session, to enact tougher gun control measures.
