(Bloomfield, CONN. / WTIC Radio)-- Human remains were found on a wetland site in Bloomfield Thursday afternoon, according to police.

Authorities say they began investigating a report that remains were buried in wetlands off Woodland Avenue. The remains were found on a 287-acre wetlands site that police say is owned by the state, for specific use by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.

State Police cadaver dogs discovered the remains, which were then excavated and recovered by the state medical examiner. The identification of the remains is pending.
