It's Too Early To Get a Flu Shot

(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - It's too early to get a flu shot.

That, from Dr. Ulysses Wu, chief of infectious diseases at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford.

Wu suggests waiting until late October or early November to get vaccinated, because the protection from a flu shot can wane if it's given too early. 

He says the start of flu season is fairly consistent from year to year.

But Wu adds, an early flu shot provides more protection than no flu shot at all.
