(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The state Department of Publich Health reports widespread flu activity continues.

DPH reports four additional deaths from complications of flu in the last week.

There've been 38 deaths since the season started last August.

At this time last year, there were already well over 100 deaths from flu in Connecticut.

The CDC says nationally, the percentage of those seeking treatment--4.7 percent is still above the national baseline.

There are some positives, though: DPH reports emergency department visits for flu are down, along with the number of those being treated on an outpatient basis.

There've been 2,300 who've needed hospital treatment, with the total number of cases--inpatient and out--just shy of 6,600.

New Haven, Hartford, and Fairfield Counties continue to log the most flu cases, in that order.
