MANCHESTER, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man who used his girlfriend's apartment to store hundreds of pounds of marijuana that they shipped from California has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison.

The Hartford Court reports that 25-year-old Kenneth Chaparro, of Manchester, was sentenced Thursday under terms of a plea deal reached with prosecutors.

Chaparro previously pleaded guilty to operating a drug factory and conspiracy to possess marijuana with intent to sell. His now-former girlfriend, 23-year-old Kiara Lopez, was previously sentenced to two years and eight months behind bars.

Authorities say they made several trips to California to buy as much as 100 pounds of marijuana at a time, then stored it in the Manchester apartment.

When police raided Lopez's apartment, they found about 70 pounds of marijuana and about $6,000 in cash.
