MDC Warns Of Impostor Employees Trying To Access Homes

HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC) - The Metropolitan District Commission is warning customers about imposter water company employees.

The MDC wants to remind customers that all field employees have official MDC logos on their clothing and vehicles, and have identification badges, which they will gladly display upon request.

If someone claiming to work for the MDC asks to enter your home, officials say the policy should be no ID, no entry. If you did not have a previously scheduled appointment, call the water company to verify the individual's identity. The MDC says when in doubt, don't let them in and call the police.

The warning was prompted by recent incidents on Cumberland Road in West Hartford and in East Hartford, where authorities say people claiming to be from the water company tried to gain access to homes.
