Meriden Man Found Dead Near Home After Early Morning Fire

MERIDEN, Conn. (WTIC) - After a house fire on Side Hill Road in Meriden this morning, police found a man who lived in the home dead in a wooded area nearby on River Road. 

Fire broke out at the single family home on Side Hill Road around 5:15am. After the blaze was put out, 35-year-old Justin Miller was unaccounted for. His body was later discovered by police officers investigating suspicious activity on nearby River Road.

According to Meriden Police Sergeant Christopher Fry, Miller is believed to have taken his own life.

Police also found another resident of the house that caught fire, the deceased man's mother, who was found safe. 

Investigators are still working to determine how the house caught fire.
