Arrest In Vernon Stabbing

(Vernon, Conn./WTIC) - Vernon Police have made an arrest in a stabbing this week that left the victim with life threatening injuries.  

Officers are charging 32-year-old Whitney Baldwin of Vernon.

They say around 10:00 Tuesday morning, Baldwin and the victim were involved in an argument on Bellevue Avenue, after which Baldwin pulled a folding knife and stabbed the victim in the leg.

Police say Baldwin ditched the knife after the attack but it was later recovered.

The victim had significant blood loss, police say and was not breathing and had no pulse.

She was rushed first to Rockville Hospital and later transported to Hartford Hospital and underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical condition.

As for Baldwin, she's facing assault and evidence tampering charges.  Bond was set at $125,000.
