WILLINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - One man has died after an assault left him and another man injured in Willington Friday morning, according to State Police who continue to search for the suspect.

State police have identified the suspect as Peter Manfredonia, 23, of the homicide of Theodore Demers, 62, of Willington, and the assault of another older man.

Troopers found two older men suffering from injuries on Mirtl Road just after 9 a.m. Friday when responding to the incident.

According to police, Manfredonia was last seen leaving that area on a red sport-style motorcycle heading toward Route 20. Officials say he was wearing dark clothes and a multi-colored (possibly red and white) helmet.

According to police, the suspect used an edged weapon in the assault. No word yet on a motive. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.

Saturday, University of Connecticut Spokesperson Stephanie Reitz confirmed that Manfredonia is currently a senior at the university. He is a student in the joint School of Engineering/School of Business MEM (Management and Engineering for Management) program, Reitz said.

According to Reitz, Manfredonia is not attending summer courses and was not living on the UConn campus at the time of the incident. The university is providing any assistance possible in the investigation, Reitz said.

The investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone who sees the suspect to not approach him and to call 911. Police also ask anyone with information about the assault to contact State Police Troop C at 860-896-3200.
