HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - State auditors have found lax oversight of background checks on commercial driving school instructors at the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles.

An audit report released Wednesday covering a three-year period ending in June 2015 finds the DMV did not have the required fingerprints or proficiency tests on file for a handful instructors, among other issues.

The audit also finds the agency did not follow through on technology upgrades required by the federal Real ID program.

In all, auditors identified 19 problems at the DMV. Eleven of the issues were identified in a previous audit.
