BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Bloomfield police have arrested a local man after he allegedly stabbed his 68-year-old father with kitchen knife at their Carpenter Lane home.

Police were called to the residence shortly after 1:15 p.m. Wednesday to find the victim with a stab wound near the heart, said authorities. He was taken to Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford with life-threatening injuries, said police.

The man's son, identified as 35-year-old Carlos Cameron, was located at a home on nearby Greenmeadow Drive, said police. Cameron was arrested without incident on a charge of first-degree assault of an elderly person.

Police were sent to nearby Laurel Elementary School as a precaution, as they hunted for the suspect.

Police are not ruling out the possibility of additional charges in the case.
