WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Plans to possibly change the name of Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks have been shelved.

After exploring the matter for around a year, the Connecticut Airport Authority Board of Directors has decided to keep the airport's name.

Authority Executive Director Kevin Dillon says name changes don't always pay dividends. He points to Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in Manchester, New Hampshire, which saw its passenger volume drop since trying to market itself as an alternative to Logan International Airport in Boston.

Some members of the board were disappointed by the decision at Wednesday's meeting. "I would love to see the change be Connecticut International," said Chairman Tony Sheridan. "It provides Connecticut with an identity worldwide."

Officials say the matter can always be revisited in the future. In the meantime, they plan to redouble their marketing efforts.
