BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A worker at a Bloomfield Halal butcher shop who slaughtered an escaped calf in the back of the local Home Depot, has been charged with animal cruelty.

Police, Friday, announced that Badr Musaed turned himself in connection with the July 13 incident on Granby Street. Police say Musaed was one of three employees at the Saba Live Poultry shop who grabbed the escaped calf. He then pulled out a knife and slit its throat, according to authorities and police video.

Musaed is free on $10,000 bond and due in Hartford Superior Court later this month. A spokesman for butcher shop says Musaed remains on administrative leave.
