WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) -  Connecticut added 6,100 jobs in June as the state's unemployment rate dropped one tenth of a percentage point to 4.4 percent, according to preliminary numbers released Thursday by the state Department of Labor.

In addition, the job gains originally reported for May were revised upward by 2,000, for a total of 6,100, said the agency.

“June’s increase of 6,100 jobs overcame the entire decline we saw in March and April,” said Andy Condon, Director of the Office of Research. “Construction and manufacturing are now the fastest growing sectors in the state’s labor market – a very good sign.”

The national jobless rate stands at 4 percent.
