HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut retailers are preparing for the state's annual Sales Tax Free Week.

Though the terms have gotten less generous over the years, this will be the 19th year for the sales tax holiday-- running Sunday, August 18 through Saturday, August 24.

Revenue Services Commissioner Scott Jackson says what qualifies for a tax break, will be the same as last year.

"Any item of clothing or footwear, no matter how many you buy, any item under $100, will be exempt from sales tax," said Jackson. The sales tax rate is 6.35 percent.

The week is projected to save consumers $4.9 million-- up from $4.5 million in 2018.
