Death From Lung Injury Linked To Vaping Reported In CT

(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Connecticut has recorded the first death linked to vaping in the state.

According to the Department of Public Health, the patient was between the ages of 30-and-39 and died last week from vaping-related lung injury .

Additionally, DPH officials says six more state residents have fallen ill with injuries consistent with e-cigarette use or vaping.

That brings to 25, the number who have been sickened thus far in Connecticut.  All but one patient have been released from hospitals.  

Fairfield County had the most cases with 11.

Five were under the age of 18, 13 between the ages of 18 and 34, and seven 35 years of age and older.

DPH Commissioner Renee Coleman-Mitchell continues to urge residents not to use e-cigarette and vaping products, pending an investigation by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

There've been over one thousand cases nationwide.
