(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) -  The state Department of Public Health is reporting two additional cases of severe lung injuries in Connecticut that appear to be connected to the use of e-cigarettes.

The additional cases bring to 13, the number who have been treated thus far.

One person remains hospitalized.

A national investigation is underway into vaping-related lung illnesses, being led by the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention.

DPH has interviewed nine of the 13 patients who've been sickened thus far.

All had reported using products containing THC, a psychoactive component of the marijuana plant.

So far, there have been over 500 cases of lung injury linked to e-cigarette use nationwide.

Health experts are urging consumers to avoid purchasing vaping products pending the outcome of the investigation.
