Embezzlement Investigation Leads To Arrest

PLAINFIELD, Conn. (WTIC 1080 NEWS) -  Plainfield Police with the assistance of the Connecticut State Police Troop D executed a search and seizure warrant at a residence in Woodstock around 7 o'clock last night stemming from an embezzlement investigation that occurred in 2018 that resulted in the arrest of Cheryl Hicks who resided at the address last November. 

Hicks was charged with Larceny in the 1st Degree when she was accused of steadily increasing her salary and using company funds for personal purchases to pay her bills. It was determined that the local business, Concrete Floors Company, suffered a loss just under $500,000 dollars. Police also found several thousand dollars’ worth of items including a vehicle, currency and firearms that were determined to be purchased by or related to purchases made with company funds. 

Hicks has a scheduled court date for Feb 22nd.  The case remains under investigation.
