BERLIN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Eversource says it will perform more than $83 million worth of tree trimming across Connecticut this year.

The utility says contractors will tackle dead, dying and hazardous trees along more than 4,200 miles of electric lines. Much of the decay is courtesy of the gypsy moth and emerald ash borer, according to the company.

Customers with questionable trees are urged to first contact their local tree warden, who in turn, will reach out to the utility company.

Eversource spent about the same amount on tree work in 2019.
