NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - State police say they have arrested a Hamden police officer who opened fire on a car containing an unarmed couple in New Haven in April.

Devin Eaton is charged with one count of first-degree assault and two counts of reckless endangerment. Eaton was placed on leave following the April 16 shooting at Dixwell Avenue and Argyle Street.

State police say Eaton fired 13 rounds at the car---wounding passenger Stephanie Washington. Yale University police officer Terrance Pollock, who also fired his gun, has not been charged.

A report by the New Haven State's Attorney finds Eaton's use of  deadly force was not justified.
