HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) --- Hartford Police arrested suspect wanted on outstanding warrant for a shooting incident earlier this month.

On Saturday, February 9th, patrol units and medical services responded to 35 Sumner Street on a report of an assault with a firearm.

A single male victim was located indoors suffering from a gunshot wound to the groin. The victim was immediately transported to St. Francis Hospital and admitted into surgery in serious, but stable condition.  During the course of the investigation by Major Crimes Division detectives, information was developed as to the identity of the suspect.

It was determined that both the victim and suspect were known to each other, and that the shooting stemmed from a tumultuous argument between the two.

On February 14th, a warrant was approved by a judge of the Superior Court for the arrest of Anthony Torres for the charges of Home Invasion, Assault 1st degree, and Carrying a Pistol without a Permit.

Information was received that Torres was inside of an apartment at 22 Elliott Street on Sunday, police said. Due to the severity of the incident and charges, patrol officers responded and maintained a perimeter until the arrival of members of the Emergency Response Team. At approximately 2:25pm, Torres was placed into custody safely, and without incident.
