(Wethersfield, Conn./WTIC) - Governor Lamont is touring hard-hit areas of connecticut today in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Isaias...

Starting out this morning in Wethersfield, Lamont said he's declaring a state of emergency.

He says that will allow him to use resources more effectively and hopefully make the state eligible to receive cleanup assistance from FEMA.

The storm has caused widespread tree and power line damage, cutting service to hundreds of thousands of Eversource and United Illuminating customers.

Lamont says the damage is such that it could take several days to get power back to those who've lost it.

He says crews from Vermont and New Hampshire are being brought in to assist those who are already on the ground here doing assessments, debris removal and restoration.
