ENFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - State police are investigating after three judicial marshals at the Enfield courthouse were exposed to an unknown substance Monday morning.

Authorities say the substance came from a prisoner brought to court by Enfield police.

The marshals were treated at the scene; the prisoner remains locked up, said a Connecticut Judicial Branch spokesperson.

The courthouse, on Phoenix Avenue, was not evacuated.

State police are testing the substance.
