WINDSOR LOCKS, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A Delta Airlines jet bound for Atlanta was forced to return to Bradley International Airport shortly after takeoff Monday morning. There were 148 passengers and five crew members aboard the flight.

After taking off at 10:42 a.m., Delta flight 2457 returned to Windsor Locks around 11:15 a.m. after there was an indication that there could be a problem with the MD-88's landing gear, said the airline.

The flight crew declared an emergency due to a gear door issue, said the Federal Avialtion Administration.

The airliner landed safely and maintenance technicians were evaluating the aircraft, said a Delta spokesperson. According to the FAA database, the plane was manufactured in 1992.

There was no impact on airport operations, said the Connecticut Airport Authority.
