MGM's Lawsuit:

(WTIC-AM) -- MGM Resorts today filed a lawsuit against the Interior Department, as part of its legal battle against a planned, rival tribal casino in East Windsor.

In the suit, MGM claims that the Interior Department acted unlawfully when it approved changes to compacts between the Mohegan Tribe, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, and the state of Connecticut.

Those changes could allow the tribes to jointly build a casino in East Windsor.

That casino would compete directly with MGM's new gambling facility in Springfield, Massachusetts.

MGM says the Interior Department should not allow the tribes to jointly to have a monopoly over commercial gaming in Connecticut.

MGM asks the court to throw out the interior Department's approval of the new, tribal run-casino.

The federal lawsuit was filed in Washington, DC.
