(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The state Department of Public Health is reporting six additional cases of residents suffering from severe lung illnesses that may be linked to e-cigarettes.

That brings to 11, the number of cases thus far.

DPH says the patients ranged in age from 15 to 50 and most have since been released from the hospital.

The first case was reported August 14.

Commissioner Renee Coleman-Mitchell is urging residents to consider not using e-cigarette products pending the outcome of a national investigation.

Over 400 have suffered lung illnesses nationwide, and health officials are trying to determine if the cases are linked to vaping.
