New Haven Police Investigate 4 Unrelated Incidents

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ New Haven Police began investigating a string of unrelated incidents early Sunday morning.

Around 3 a.m., New Haven Police say Louise Patterson, 37, struck and critcally injured a 42-year-old New Haven woman on Dixwell Avenue between Argyle and Gibbs Streets. Police say Patterson was distracted behind the wheel of her car when she struck the pedestrian, as well as two parked cars. Officials say Patterson failed a field sobriety test and was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, assault in the second degree with a motor vehicle, failure to use care near a vulnerable person, and distracted driving.

Later Sunday night, Police investigated another pedestrian verses vehicle crash. A 69-year-old New Haven man was struck and killed by a car in the area of Middletown Avenue and Cross Street around 8:35 p.m. Sunday night. The driver remained on scene.

A homicide investigation began around 3:48 p.m. Sunday afternoon, when an 18-year-old New Haven man was shot and killed at a condominium complex on Quinnipiac Avenue.

Officials received word a 29-year-old man was suffering a non-life threatening graze gunshot wound to the head around 8:05 p.m. Sunday night in the area of Lloyd and Exchange Streets.

Police are investigating each of the incidents seperately and will release more information when available.
