Pedestrians Struck in Simsbury

(SIMSBURY,Conn./WTIC)  - A husband and wife were struck by a vehicle while crossing Route 10, Hopmeadow Street in Simsbury shortly before 6:30 Wednesday evening, according tro police.

The woman, identified as Svenja Volpe, 28, of Simsbury and her husband, Nicholas Volpe, 27, were transported to area hospitals. Police said they had no information on the victims' conditions late Thursday morning.

The 64-year-old driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating with investigators.

The crash remains under investigation by members of the Simsbury Police Department, assisted by officers of the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad.
