FARMINGTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A Plymouth woman has been arrested for driving under the influence after she rear ended a state police trooper's cruiser on Interstate 84 in Farmington Wednesday night, said police.

Police say Alexandra Warzecho, 24, of the Terryville section of Plymouth, was traveling eastbound approaching Exit 39A shortly after 9:30 p.m., when she slammed into the rear end of a cruiser that was part of a construction detail. The crash occurred at a high rate of speed, said troopers.

Trooper Michael Chapman, 46, who was in the cruiser, was taken to Hartford Hospital for evaluation, said police. Warzecho refused medical treatment and admitted to consuming alcohol prior to driving, said police.

Police say they found drug paraphernalia in Warzecho's possession. In addition to DUI, she was charged with tailgating, possession of drug paraphernalia and failing to slow down/move over for emergency vehicles.

Warzecho is free on $2,500 bond and due in Hartford Superior Court September 19.
