NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - New Haven Police Captain Anthony Duff will be released from Yale New Haven Hospital Thursday morning, more than a week after being shot while responding to a fatal incident.

Officials say Duff happened upon two men who were shooting at one another on Monday, August 12 while he was off-duty.

When Duff intervened, police say one man killed the other, later identified as Troy Clark of West Haven. The gunman, then, shot Duff at least two times that evening.

Police Chief Tony Reyes says local, state and federal authorities are assisting in the ongoing investigation of the incident.
