ENFIELD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Enfield police have arrested a local man on charges he tried to kill his wife.

Officers were called to a home in town shortly after 5 a.m. Friday, where they were greeted at the front door by Daniel Burke, 51, who stated that he had killed his wife, said police.

However, the woman-- found on the floor with wounds to her abdomen and neck-- was still alive. Police say she underwent emergency surgery at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford.

Burke was held on $1 million bond, pending arraignment.
