January 10, 2019 - 4:39 pm

Southington, Conn. (WTIC) - A Southington woman was arrested after officers responded to the area of Darling St. and Flanders St. on a report of a driver slumped over at the wheel.

The initial report occurred earlier this week on January 6th.  Upon arrival officers found the accused, Shawnya Watson, to be the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle.  While giving aid to the accused, officers found marijuana on the floor of the vehicle.  They also found bundles of wax paper folded up on the back seat floor.

The contents of the wax folds later tested positive for heroin.

Additionally, a further search of the vehicle led officers to find a plastic bag containing a white rock substance.  Police said the substance appeared to be crack cocaine and later testing proved positive for the narcotic.

In all, 504 baggies of heroin were seized along with 48.7 grams of crack cocaine.

Watson, age 34 of Southington, was transported from the scene to an area medical center or evaluation.

An arrest warrant for the charges of Possession of Narcotics With Intent to Sell, two counts of Possession of Narcotics, and two counts of Possession of Narcotics within 1500 Feet of a School was applied for and granted.  Watson posted a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Court later this month.
