SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - South Windsor police have arrested a local man for allegedly waving axes at passing cars on Pleasant Valley Road Tuesday.

Police say they received numerous calls around 8 p.m. about Jacob Pritchard, 28, waving axes next to a parked truck near the intersection with Wheeler Road.

Pritchard told authorities that he had run out of gas and was upset that no one was stopping to help, so he held two axes as he stood in the roadway to get the attention of passing motorists. It worked.

Pritchard is charged with second-degree threatening and breach of peace, based on the "annoyance and alarm" he caused, according to police.

He was arraigned Wednesday at Manchester Superior Court.
