(Wethersfield, Conn./WTIC) - The state Department of Labor is reporting job gains for the month of August.

Figures released today show the number of nonfarm jobs in Connecticut last month grew by 2,800.

The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 3.6-percent.

In addition, losses initially reported in July turned into gains.

Department officials say what was originally logged as a drop of 100 positions turned into a revision of 1,700 to show a net gain of 1,600 in July.

Labor department research director Andy Condon says six of ten industry sectors reported gains for the period with the overall labor force growing for the first time in several months.
