(Berlin, Conn./WTIC) - Tree removal continues following last month's tropical storm and tornadoes.

Eversource says some 10-thousand trees came down during that violent weather.

Now, the utility is asking its customers to inspect trees on their property that may pose a danger to the electric system.

Alan Carey, Eversource vegetation management manager, says 60-percent of the state's landscape is forested.

Many of those large, mature trees are located over or near power lines, he says.

Carey says communities and customers go a long way in helping to supplement the utility's year round tree removal efforts along state and local roads.

The company says this year alone, it is shelling out $83 million get rid of decaying trees and branches along some 42-hundred miles of Connecticut roadway.
