STORRS, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The University of Connecticut is outlining how it plans to welcome students back to campus for the fall semester.

Under a draft plan released Wednesday, the first day of the fall semester will be August 31. Classes will be a blend of online, in person and a mixture of the two.

After Thanksgiving break, the balance of the semester, including finals, will be online only.

Residence halls in Storrs and Stamford will be open, but with reduced density, and students living on campus will have to return about two weeks early to be tested for COVID-19.

Also, there will be social-distancing and mask requirements. UConn says it has secured enough masks for everyone on campus.

The plan will be submitted to trustees, and then the state, for approval in the coming weeks.
