STORRS, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Sixteen cases of rape were reported on the UConn campus in Storrs in calendar year 2017-- eight fewer than the year before, according to new numbers released by the university.

Fourteen of the rapes last year occurred in on-campus student housing facilities, according to the Clery Annual Security and Fire Safety Report. In addition, there were two reported cases of fondling on campus property, compared to 12 the year before.

The new Clery data also indicates that police made 203 arrests at Storrs last year for drug abuse violations; 36 arrests for liquor law violations; and received four reports of stalking.
