Weak Tornado Confirmed In Ashford

ASHFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The National Weather Service confirms a weak tornado touched down in Ashford during severe thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon.

The EF-0 tornado touched down west of Ashford Lake, said officials. Peak winds were estimated between 80 and 85 mph with an approximate width of
225 yards. The length of the tornado path was about 0.4 miles long and on the ground for approximately 1 minute. The tornado touchdown time was around 4 p.m.

Officials say the twister caused mainly tree damage. No injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, officials say straight-line winds caused damage father east in Putnam.
