Winchester Police Investigate Fatal Vehicle, Building Collision

WINCHESTER, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A Winsted resident died after hitting a building while driving around the intersection of Bridge Street and Willow Street late Monday morning, Winchester police said.

A Nissan Sentra hit a building at 10 Bridge Street, according to authorities. Police responded to the motor vehicle accident at about 11:03 a.m.

Police found the operator unresponsive. After life-saving measures were performed, police said the operator was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials identified the operator as Doris Marino, 87, of Winsted. Marino was the only occupant in the vehicle, according to police.

The Bridge Street building sustained minimal and no apparent structural damage, police said. The Nissan sustained heavy front-end damage and was towed from the scene, officials said.

The Connecticut State Police Accident Investigation Team is assisting Winchester police in the investigation.
