Woman Charged with DUI After Striking Two Bicyclists

(FARMINGTON,Conn./WTIC)  -  A New Britain woman accused of  striking two bicyclists on Fienemann Road  in  Farmington, near the New Britain line Saturday afternoon and fleeing the scene   has been arrested on Driving Under the Influence and other charges.

According to police  Cheryl Noad was traveling north on Fienemann Road shortly before 4:15 pm  when she went off the right side of the road and struck a highway  sign and two juveniles  on bicycles.The windshield of her car was heavily damaged, but she continued north and got onto Interstate 84 eastbound.A motorist  called 911 to report  erratic operation of a vehicle with a  smashed windshield on the highway.Noad was stopped by State Police  in East Hartford and was detained.

Farmington officers  responded to Noad's location to interview her and say she told them she thought she  struck a small tree.Noad failed  roadside  sobriety tests.She posted bond and was released.

The  victims, ages 12 and 13 from Farmington suffred injuries ranging from lacerations to  a  serious leg fracture.
